Diablo EZReporter Software

Natural Gas Analysis Module

The optional Natural Gas Analysis (NGA) module is designed to perform Natural Gas / Refinery Gas heating value and related calculations. The results from these calculations are available for reporting, monitoring, trend plotting, and exporting through the base module. The features present in the NGA module include:

  • Standard GPA and ISO Calculations: Calculate the following component and total results using GPA 2172-09, GPA 2177-03, GPA 2186-02, and ISO 6976 standard calculations.

Individual Component Results

Component Normalized Mole%
Component Normalized Weight%
Component Normalized Liquid Volume%
Component Gross Heating Value (BTU / ideal cu.ft., BTU / lbm, and BTU / Gal.)
Component Net Heating Value (BTU / ideal cu.ft. and BTU / lbm)
Component Relative Gas Density
Component Gas Density (lbm / cu.ft.)
Component GPM (Gal. / 1000 cu.ft.)
Component Compressibility
Component Molecular Weight
Component Vapor Pressure (psia or psig)
Component Relative Liquid Density
Component Liquid Density (lbm / gal.)

Total Results

*Total Raw (unnormalized) Amount
Water Mole Fraction and Mole%
(Saturated at base conditions or at a specified flowing temperature and pressure)
*Gross Heating Value (BTU / ideal and real cu.ft., BTU / lbm, and BTU / gal.)
Net Heating Value (BTU / ideal and real cu.ft. and BTU / lbm)
Relative Gas Density (ideal and real)
Gas Density (lbm / ideal and real cu.ft.)
Compressibility (Z) factor
Total GPM
*Total Molecular Weight
Wobbe Index
*Vapor Pressure (psia)
*Liquid Density (lbm / gal. and lbm / bbl)
*Relative Liquid Density
*Volume (cu.ft. / gal.)
*API Gravity
Note: All results are calculated and reported on a dry gas basis.  Many results can  also be calculated and reported for a water-saturated gas and a "wet" gas. "Wet" results can either be based on an actual measured water mole% of a partially saturated gas (entered manually), or for a water-saturated gas at a specified flowing temperature and pressure using the GPA 2172-09/IGT RB8 Water Content Correlation.
* Results that are available for the extended (C6+) renormalized fraction.
  • Physical Properties can be Easily Customized: The component list is completely customizable. Components can be added to or deleted from the component list, and calculation factors (Heating Value, Molar Mass Ratio, Summation Factor, etc.) can be updated by the user either manually or using one of the standard physical property tables included in the software.

  • Standard Physical Property Tables: Standard component physical property tables are provided for the GPA 2145-03 and GPA 2145-09 Standards, the GPSA Engineering Data Book (12th Edition, 2004), GPA TP-17, ASTM D3588, and ISO 6976).
  • Export to Text File:  You can create custom export templates to save NGA results to text files for import into flow and measurement systems like Flow-Cal and PGAS.
  • Monitor Results with Alarms:  You can use "Monitored Parameters" to set up alarms for critical parameters like the total un-normalized mole%.
